AI Tool for Browsing
Microsoft has introduced a new AI feature called Copilot Vision, which allows the assistant to see and interpret what users are viewing, with their consent. This opt-in tool is designed to improve the user experience in the Edge browser and is currently available in preview. Currently available exclusively to Copilot Pro subscribers in the United States through Copilot Labs at $20 per month, the feature integrates seamlessly into the Edge browser’s interface.
How Users Can Benefit from Copilot Vision?
Users can use it for comparison shopping by analyzing the products and prices across websites, extracting key information from complex documents, and instant explanations of technical concepts or visual content. The assistant can also help with everyday tasks like recipe interpretation, travel planning, and education by providing relevant explanations based on what’s displayed on the screen.
For business users, it can summarize lengthy documents, analyze spreadsheets, and help create presentations by understanding the context of slides and images.
User Data Protection
The system deletes all session data once users end their browsing session, and the conversation history isn’t stored or used for model training. Moreover, the feature is limited to a selected group of pre-approved popular websites, excluding any sensitive content. Microsoft emphasizes that Vision doesn’t capture, store, or utilize publisher data to train its models, prioritizing copyright protection, creator rights, and user privacy.
