Recraft released Recraft V4.1 Flash on 23 September 2026, a text-to-image model that produces a roughly 1,000 pixel image in about 1.5 seconds for $0.007. That is around a fifth of the price of Recraft V4.1, and Recraft is positioning it as the fastest image model on the market.
What does Recraft V4.1 Flash do?
It is the speed tier of the existing V4.1 family. Same aspect ratios, same house style, lower resolution and far less waiting. Recraft’s pitch is about attention rather than throughput: ten seconds is long enough to lose the idea you had when you pressed generate.
The trade-off is that it only generates. Recraft V4.1 Flash takes no image input, no styles and no style references, which are the features most Recraft users rely on for brand consistency. You do get two colour controls, rgb_colors for the palette and background_rgb_color for the background.
What you get with it:
- Price: $0.007 per image, roughly a fifth of Recraft V4.1
- Speed: about 1.5 seconds end to end, measured at 1.51 seconds on OpenRouter
- Output: around 1,000 pixel raster images, in the same aspect ratios as V4.1
- Generation only: no image inputs, no styles, no style references
- Controls: rgb_colors and background_rgb_color

What Recraft is not saying
There is no quality comparison anywhere. Recraft claims the speed crown and the price is published, but nothing in the announcement says how V4.1 Flash images compare with V4.1 images, or with anything from a competitor. For a model whose whole proposition is a trade between speed and fidelity, the missing half of that trade is the fidelity.
The dropped features are the bigger omission in practice. Style references are how Recraft customers keep a set of images looking like one brand. Removing them turns Flash from a cheaper Recraft into a different product with the Recraft name on it.
What this means
Worth testing now, but for drafting rather than delivering. A design team or a marketing team that generates dozens of options before choosing one has an obvious use here: run the exploration on Flash at $0.007, then render the chosen concept on V4.1 where the style references work. At those prices the exploration stops being a budget line.
Do not expect it to replace V4.1 in a production pipeline. Without style references you cannot hold a brand look across a set, and without a published quality comparison you are buying speed on trust. The honest read is that Recraft has shipped a very cheap ideation tool and called it a model release. That is still useful, and the price makes it easy to find out for yourself within an afternoon.
