Unlike standard prompting, Cowork allows Claude to plan and execute multi-step tasks, such as organizing file systems, creating complex Excel models, and drafting research reports. This is done directly on your computer with minimal supervision.

  • How does Claude Cowork differ from regular Claude Chat?

    Regular Claude Chat operates in a one-off response loop.

    Claude Cowork uses an agentic architecture (similar to Claude Code) to execute long-running tasks. It can access designated local folders, create and edit files (PPT, Excel, Word), and run multiple sub-tasks in parallel without conversation timeouts.

  • What are the requirements to use Claude Cowork features?

    As of early 2026, Claude Cowork is a research preview available via the Claude Desktop app for macOS.
    Users must have an active Claude Pro or Max subscription. During the workshop, we guide you through the setup of local “sandbox” folders to ensure Claude can safely interact with your files.

  • Can Claude Cowork automate web browsing and external apps?

    Yes. When paired with the Claude Chrome extension or third-party connectors like Zapier, Claude Cowork can retrieve web data, summarize pages, and trigger actions in external productivity tools, making it a “thinking partner” that extends beyond simple text generation.

  • Is Claude Cowork safe for sensitive company data?

    Claude Cowork operates within a sandboxed virtual machine (VM) on your computer. It can only access the specific folders you explicitly grant permission to. Furthermore, the system includes “deletion protection,” requiring human approval before any file is permanently removed from your system.

  • Does Claude remember my files or train on my Cowork data?

    No. Cowork sessions are isolated and do not have “memory” across different tasks. Anthropic’s standard privacy terms apply: data from Pro and Max users is not used to train their global models, ensuring your proprietary workflows remain private.

  • What specific tasks can I automate after the Claude Cowork Workshop?
